Gro 'N Win / Alfa Gro 'N Win & Developmental Orthopedic Disease (DOD)

Inadequate prenatal nutrition can be a major factor in the development of D.O.D.. Research shows that trace minerals are stored in the liver of the prenatal foal and are called upon postnatally to help form healthy bone. Inadequate prenatal nutrition, whether not provided or not absorbed, can lead to foals with symptoms of D.O.D. before 8 weeks of age.

Increasing the mineral density of the mare's diet throughout pregnancy has reduced the incidence of nutrition-related D.O.D.. Concentrated ration balancers, such as Gro 'N Win or Alfa Gro 'N Win, or mineral and vitamin mixes can provide these necessary nutrients without adding extra calories. The mineral levels and ratios should complement the forage (hay) that the mare is eating.
