<h3>Viv Bransteter&nbsp;Gains Confidence&nbsp;With Help
From&nbsp;Stacy Westfall&nbsp;As Winner of Buckeye
Nutrition's&nbsp;"Win a Day With Stacy Sweepstakes"</h3>

<p>Viv Bransteter set a goal to regain her confidence when she
learned she would spend a day with champion reiner and clinician
Stacy Westfall as the winner of Buckeye Nutrition's "Spend A Day
With Stacy" Sweepstakes. And, according to Viv, who traveled 123
miles from her farm in Celina, Ohio to Stacy's training facility in
Mt. Gilead, Ohio, she met her objective.</p>

<p>"I showed poles and barrels when our family raised American
Quarter Horses," Viv said. "I started showing when I was twenty,
but stopped riding in 2006 after I suffered a head injury during an
automobile accident. It wasn't until last year that I climbed back
on my 17-year-old gelding to begin rebuilding my confidence."</p>

<p>Viv hopes to become confident enough to return to the show ring
astride Sheza Redneck Woman (Mary), a 3-year-old bay filly sired by
Redneck Jet, sire of the 2010 AQHA Junior Pole Bending Champion,
Redneck Daisy. Mary had some earlier groundwork and Viv hauled her
to shows and started her on barrels and poles-but the pair never
competed. She hoped Stacy could help her increase her control of
her filly and offer tips to successfully run patterns.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"I had never met Stacy but watched her championship run at
American Quarter Horse Congress on YouTube-when she rode bareback
and bridle-less," Viv said. "I knew she was
fabulous."&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>The Evaluation</strong></p>

<p>The July 18th morning began at 8:30 with Stacy asking
Viv to saddle up so she could watch her ride. According to Stacy,
the approach was different than she usually employs with clinic
participants, who typically start with groundwork.</p>

<p>"I spoke with Viv earlier and learned she had been riding for
many years," Stacy said. "I wanted to see how she handled her filly
and determine how the horse responded to her."</p>

<p>Viv has been riding since she was three.</p>

<p>"My family had an old paint mare and when she lay down, I would
climb onto her back," Viv recalled. "People passing by on the road
often commented, 'there's that little girl on that horse
again.'"</p>

<p><strong>Do As I Do</strong></p>

<p>Mary, as a three-year-old, is 15.3 hands, with long legs that
seemed to go everywhere. Stacy recommended working on exercises to
help collect the filly-and help Viv gain a more confident seat.</p>

<p>&nbsp;Stacy began by explaining and demonstrating each exercise
on her own horse so Viv could see the steps involved and observe
how the horse should look when the exercise was performed
correctly. Viv started with counterbending to help collect Mary and
get control of her shoulders. She progressed to riding around
obstacles such as cones at a walk and trot.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"I saw a change in Mary in just 15 minutes," Viv said. "It
was like taking her back to kindergarten and teaching her the
basics so she could perform more advanced maneuvers later."</p>

<p>&nbsp; The basics also included riding at liberty with a loose
outside rein and lateral flexion. After lunch at a nearby café,
Stacy and Viv moved on to groundwork to confirm that Mary
understood certain cues, such as how to move away from pressure.
Viv saddled up again late in the afternoon to continue
counterbending and improving how Mary moved and handled
obstacles.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Mary had trouble standing still and Stacy taught me how
to flex her to get her attention and stop her from moving around."
&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;Stacy also helped with Viv's 17-year-old gelding, Dees
Boogie Man, who liked to charge out of the trailer backward.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"I learned to stop him at different points as I backed him
into and out of the stall so he didn't feel trapped," Viv said. "By
the next day, he was backing out of the trailer quietly and
stopping when I cued him."</p>

<p><strong>Lessons for the Future</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp; While the principles she learned from Stacy improved
Mary's performance, Viv said what she appreciated most about her
day with Stacy was discovering new ways to handle and train her
horse. She feels she can use these skills other horses in the
future-including her yearling Quarter Horse, Stomping Out Fire.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"I understand how groundwork builds a foundation for a
horse to perform under saddle," Viv said. "I'm also a more
confident rider because I know how to get control of my horse."</p>

<p>&nbsp;Employing her new training and riding skills, Viv has set
her sights on competing on Mary this fall. She recently hauled the
filly to a Quarter Horse show in West Virginia where she trotted
and loped around poles after classes had finished for the day.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Several people commented on Mary and how nicely she
moved," Viv said. "She is a much more responsive and collected
horse after I spent the day with Stacy."</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Viv was a quick learner," Stacy commented. "She
understood the principles and was able to apply them to her own
horse. It was fun to watch her change in attitude as she began to
enjoy riding again."</p>

<p><strong>Sweepstakes Prizes</strong></p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong> As the first place winner of Buckeye
Nutrition's "Spend a Day with Stacy" sweepstakes, Viv received a
$500 voucher to travel to Stacy's training facility, a year's
supply of Buckeye Nutrition's Gro 'n Win® ration balancer
nutritional supplement and Stacy Westfall and Buckeye Nutrition

<p>Buckeye Nutrition has been feeding America's horses for 100
years. The company traces its beginning to 1910 when the
prestigious Pocock Family of Massillon, Ohio, opened a flour mill
operation in that city, The Buckeye Cereal Company, to supply flour
to growing population centers in the east.</p>

<p>The Buckeye Cereal Company acquired a grain buying station in
nearby Dalton to purchase ingredients, using the by-products of
those commodities-wheat middlings and bran, corn gluten and meal-to
produce livestock feeds, including horse feed. Products were
marketed under the Buckeye Quality Feeds name.</p>

<p><strong>Opportunities and challenges</strong></p>

<p>During the company's early years, railroad "milling in transit"
rates made the area between Ohio and the eastern seaboard a prime
market for The Buckeye Cereal Company's products. Commodities could
be offloaded at Massillon, processed into flour or feed, and
shipped east at the lowest shipping rate.</p>

<p>The Pocock Family recognized this potential and, owning several
other businesses, hired Elwin M. Stults (general manager), Ted M.
Stults (office manager), Wilbert W. Cox and J. Richard DaHinden
(sales reps) to manage The Buckeye Cereal Company and Buckeye
Quality Feeds operations. Buckeye faced tremendous opportunities
but encountered its share of difficulties, including a major flood
that devastated the Massillon facility in 1911 and required the
company to start over.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;Thirty-two years later, a massive fire destroyed the main
operation again.&nbsp; America was embroiled in World War II and no
construction materials were available. Unable to rebuild, the
Pocock Family sold the small remaining warehouse and feed mill in
Dalton to the management team.&nbsp; Management changed the name to
Buckeye Feeds Mills and the company continued to serve customer
needs for livestock feed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Early products and growth</strong></p>

<p>Early horse feed had simple names like "Everyday Horse Feed" and
"Horse, Mule &amp; Pony Feed." The latter was often sold to mines
in southern Ohio for the small mules and ponies that pulled carts
laden with coal.</p>

<p>"Based on records from that era, the mines' mules and ponies did
well on Buckeye feeds," said Ted Stults, former company owner,
president and chairman of the board-and the grandson of Elwin M.
Stults. "These animals had to haul heavy loads and they were under
tremendous stress. They remained in the mines so long that they
often had to be acclimated to sunlight when they were finally
brought to the earth's surface."</p>

<p>Over the years as railroad spur lines began to disappear and the
area east of Dalton became more urbanized, Buckeye began to produce
more specialized livestock and pet products. The company was able
to expand its customer base by targeting areas west of Dalton,
using a fleet of semi-tractor/trailer rigs for bulk and bagged
deliveries.</p>

<p>Tragedy struck again in 1969 when the company was once again
razed by fire. By this time, Buckeye enjoyed such an excellent
reputation within the industry that 13 local and national companies
offered to manufacture Buckeye feed products until the new
plant-which is still used today-was completed.</p>

<p>Buckeye began producing dog food in meal and pelleted form,
primarily for hunting and farm dogs, soon after the Dalton
operation opened. In 1979, the company installed an extruder/drier
system and introduced its popular Gold 'N Bits® and Buckeye Chunks
Dog Food products.</p>

<p><strong>Greater focus on horses</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp; As the pleasure horse industry continued to expand during
the 80s, Buckeye made its debut in the high quality feeds market
with its signature "Gro N' Win" product, which was developed as a
supplement for horses fed grass or alfalfa.&nbsp; Buckeye had
already expanded into Kentucky and the farm where Queen Elizabeth
stabled her horses fed "Gro N' Win" and other Buckeye feeds to the
Queen's 28 thoroughbreds.</p>

<p>When Queen Elizabeth learned the mares dropped larger foals
after their return to England, she asked Buckeye to ship feed to
the United Kingdom.&nbsp; Shipping costs, however, proved
prohibitive, which led Buckeye to designate G R Bailey Ltd as a
licensed manufacturer in England. G R Bailey Ltd also expanded into
Ireland and France.</p>

<p>Both the Stults &amp; DaHinden families remained involved in
Buckeye Feed Mills ownership and management until the company was
sold in 1996.&nbsp; In September 2005, another family owned
company, Mars, Inc., purchased Buckeye and concentrated the
company's focus on equine nutrition.&nbsp; Mars, Inc. is a global
leader in confection (SNICKERS® and M&amp;M'S®) and pet nutrition
with nearly 65,000 associates worldwide.&nbsp;&nbsp; Today, the
Dalton company operates as Mars Horsecare US Inc., with products
marketed under the "Buckeye® Nutrition" brand.</p>

<p>"Buckeye has fed millions of horses-including Kentucky Derby
Winners, reining and hunter-jumper champions, winners in pleasure
and trail and backyard pets," said Ed Yuhas, General Manager, Mars
Horsecare US Inc. "We will continue to prosper by committing to be
the best at what we do-providing the highest quality products to
horse owners and their horses."</p>

<p>Under Mars ownership, Buckeye Nutrition invests heavily in
product quality, research and development, marketing and
sales.&nbsp; Mars Horsecare US Inc. employees nearly 60 people,
primarily in Dalton, with its products distributed through an
independent dealer network. Popular clinician and champion reiner
Stacy Westfall serves as company spokesperson.</p>

<p><strong>APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR SECOND $20,000 BUCKEYE®
NUTRITION AND WALTHAM® FOUNDATION EQUINE RESEARCH
GRANT</strong></p>

<p><strong><em>Applications accepted until February 1&nbsp;&nbsp;
<a href="/media/151402/binder1.pdf">APLLY
HERE</a></em></strong></p>

<p>DALTON, OH (Date) - Applications for the second annual $20,000
BUCKEYE® Nutrition and WALTHAM® Foundation grant are now available
at <a
href="/">www.BuckeyeNutrition.com</a>
and <a href="http://www.waltham.com/">www.Waltham.com</a>. February
1 is the application deadline, with BUCKEYE® Nutrition and the
WALTHAM® Foundation presenting $20,000 per annum to one project or
dividing the award among several projects.</p>

<p>According to Dr. John Sylvester, Ph.D., Director of Research
&amp; Quality, BUCKEYE® Nutrition, applications will be evaluated
for their scientific merit and compliance with ethical standards.
Research may be new or part of existing projects and must be
completed by July 1, 2012. BUCKEYE® Nutrition and the WALTHAM®
Foundation plan to publish study results in a peer-reviewed
scientific journal to benefit the horse industry worldwide.</p>

<p>"BUCKEYE® Nutrition and the WALTHAM® Foundation offer the grant
to help fund clearly defined original research in equine nutrition,
health, behavior or welfare to benefit horses and horse owners
everywhere," Dr. Sylvester said.</p>

<p>The 2010 BUCKEYE® Nutrition and WALTHAM® Foundation grant went
to Dr. Kristine Urschel, Ph.D., a researcher at the University of
Kentucky, Department of Animal and Food Sciences, for her project,
"The effects of creep feeding pre-weaning foals on whole body
protein synthesis determined by using isotope, infusion and
stochastic analysis."&nbsp; Dr. Urschel's project will help
determine whether the beneficial effects of creep feeding on growth
are due to the additional energy, protein or other nutrients
provided by a creep feed or a combination of factors.</p>

<p>"We also hope to identify amino acids in the mare's milk that
may limit foal growth so that, with additional research, creep feed
diets can be optimized to ensure they meet the specific nutritional
requirements of growing foals," Dr. Sylvester said.</p>

<p>BUCKEYE® Nutrition and the WALTHAM® Foundation received research
applications for the 2010 grant from individuals and groups
throughout the United States and five other countries. Dr.
Sylvester is working with Dr. Urshel as external project advisor
and the 2011 grant recipient will work with either Dr. Sylvester or
Dr. Pat Harris MA PhD VetMB DipECVCN, MRCVS, Equine Studies Group,
WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition, Director of Science Effem Equine
Ltd.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr. Urschel is a native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and grew up
riding horses and participating in 4-H horse activities. She
received her bachelor's degree in agriculture, majoring in animal
science, and her doctorate degree in nutrition and metabolism at
the University of Alberta. Her doctoral research used a variety of
isotopic techniques to study protein and amino acid metabolism in
neonatal piglets.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Horses have always been my passion and after finishing my
doctorate, I began adapting some of the isotopic techniques for use
in the horse during my post-doctoral training at Virginia Technical
Institute and State University," Dr. Urschel said. "These
techniques are a key part of my research at the University of
Kentucky and the study supported by the BUCKEYE®-WALTHAM®
grant."</p>

<p>Dr. Urschel joined the University of Kentucky in August, 2008
and has a 60 percent research and 40 percent teaching
appointment.&nbsp;</p>
