FEEDING DIRECTIONS: Feed as the sole ration to pullets 12 weeks of age as a finisher (when the danger of coccidiosis is past). Continue to feed until the chickens begin to lay, then switch to Buckeye 17% complete Laying Crumble or an 18% protein ration made with Buckeye 40% Poultry Supplement. Provide clean, fresh water and grit free-choice at all times. Restrict lighting, if possible, to less than 13 hours per day when pullets are less than 20 weeks of age (some strains of leghorns will reach sexual maturity at 18 to 19 weeks of age) to discourage premature egg laying and the possibility of blowouts. Approximately 18 pounds of feed will normally be required to raise the lighter breeds of chickens from hatch to 20 weeks of age. Always maintain a fresh supply of water and grit for the pullets. |
