Feeding Directions

Mix with corn or other grains to make a diet for growing chickens and for laying birds. See mixing direction on the reverse side of this tag. Maintain a clean, fresh supply of water and grit available to the birds at all times. Birds in egg production should have a supply of oyster shells for additional calcium. Birds require approximately 14 to 16 hours of light or day to maintain peak egg production. If possible, young growing birds should be limited to 12 hours of light to help prevent premature egg laying.

*For egg laying strains or the lighter breeds of chickens such as Leghorns, feed the 17% Chick Grower from 7 to 12 weeks of age and the 16% Pullet Developer from 12 to 20 weeks or until the first egg is laid. Feed chicks of the heavy breeds 17% Chick Grower after 14 weeks of age. Baby chicks should be started on Buckeye® Chick Starter

Three different diets for laying hens are presented. Younger or lighter weight laying hens in peak production should be fed the 18% Layer Diet while the 17% or 15% Layer Diets may be utilized for larger breed laying hens or for hens at lower levels of egg production.
