My 30 year old Horse

Dear Mars Inc.

I am a 29 and a half year old Quarter Horse. I will be 30 on April 6th 2011. I use to barrel race and loved contest classes at the shows. I have been on Buckeye senior maturity texture food since I have been 20 years old. At the age of 20 I foundered and had some other small health problems. That’s when my owner went to the Buckeye Senior food it holds me at a perfect weight and I don’t look like I am almost 30 years old. Shedding in the spring is normal for me and my winter coat is nice and thick. I still chase the cows around the field.

Kim Poe | 08.29.2011My horse D.J passed away July 20th of this year. He was 29 years, 2 months and 19 days. I bought him when he was 23 months. I woke up that morning and his leg was broke above the knee. Due to arthritus and other leg problems he laid down at night. When he tried to get up that morning the vet believes the pressure on his left front leg was too much. I was sick. Even with this type of break he still wanted his breakfast. I fed him as I waited on the vet, and had to put him down. The pain became very bad as we waited. DJ had the best disposition of any horse I have ever owned. Congratulations on your horses age. I hope you make the 30 year mark.

Traci Butler | 11.25.2012I wrote this article in 2011 about my horse Whisper she is now 31 and a half and still looks like this picture. I hope she makes it to the age of 32 and keeps going . I have had her since she was 3 years old . LOVE HER SO MUCH
