BUCKEYE™ Nutrition is 100 percent equine-focused, meaning we do not produce feed for other livestock species such as cattle or pigs. With the horse as our sole focus, we can optimize our formulas, production processes, and raw ingredient matrix to best meet their needs, rather than limiting our capabilities to cater to all species. We reduce risks that are commonly associated with producing feed for multiple species.
Additionally, we employ equine nutritionists with extensive equine experience. They are responsible for product innovation, research, nutritional consultation, formulations and customer care. Focusing only on horses lets our nutrition team concentrate all their energy and expertise on ensuring our products deliver the highest quality nutrition to the horses we are trusted to feed.

What goes into our feeds and supplements is important. Our science-based formulations ensure delivery of a precise balance of the right nutrients. Using 100% pure, traceable, high-quality ingredients is the foundation of our brand.
We only use select, certified suppliers. Suppliers interested in selling their ingredients to BUCKEYE Nutrition must complete a rigorous approval process to demonstrate that their products meet our quality and safety standards. We know the source of every scoop of corn, oats, and soybeans and can trace all ingredients from the farm field to the feed bucket.

100 PERCENT MEDICINE-FREE FACILITY.
All BUCKEYE Nutrition-branded feeds and supplements are milled at our 100 percent medicine-free facility in Dalton, Ohio.
Cross-contamination with medications is a significant concern for horse owners and equine enthusiasts. Many feed producers process both horse feed and feed for other animals, such as cattle or swine, in the same facilities. This is where cross-contamination can occur. Ionophores, a type of antibiotic, can benefit cattle, swine, and other livestock and are often included in their feed. However, ionophores are extremely toxic to horses, even in very small amounts.
Additionally, there are feed additives for livestock that, while not toxic to horses, are considered prohibited substances by sanctioning bodies of equine competition. If a horse tests positive for these substances, any earned placings or monies can be revoked, whether the horse was intentionally provided these substances or the horse consumed them through accidental feed contamination.
To mitigate these risks, no medicated products of any kind are allowed on the grounds of our production facility, and all ingredient suppliers must be ionophore-free to do business with BUCKEYE Nutrition. This virtually eliminates the risk of any cross-contamination when feeding your horse BUCKEYE Nutrition products.
